Homage to the memory of Professor Crispian Scully

It is with great sadness that I tell you that on Friday March 17, 2017, I received the news that Professor Crispian Scully had passed away. Professor Scully was the leading member of the Editorial Board of Dental Mammoth from the very beginning of the project. His chair in the Board is almost impossible to fill. Professor Scully´s experience and merits in the field of oral medicine and dentistry are unique. He was the author of more than 1,000 original scientific articles and he published tens of highly valued textbooks in his area – including the Dental Mammoth. Professor Scully was decorated and honoured with a number of international distinctions, among others CBE by the Queen of England and honorary doctorate from the University of Helsinki, Finland (see figure). Crispian Scully was The Name in oral medicine and he is being mourned all over the world. We, in the Dental Mammoth team, have great respect to his memory. Our thoughts are with his wife and daughter.
