Blood and fasting blood glucose (FBL), fasting plasma and fasting serum glucose (FPL, FSC)

In addition to glucose obtained from nutrition, the liver produces glucose primarily from glycogen, and during fasting in the absence of glycogen, from amino acids through gluconeogenesis. Blood glucose concentration is primarily controlled by insulin and glucagon.
