Gravbase and lactbase decision support databases include a concise information on the safety of drugs and other substances, such as vitamins, illicit drugs, caffeine and nicotine during pregnancy and lactation. You can search for either a specific drug or a whole group of drugs to find which drug within the drug group has the best safety profile and clinical documentation.
The safety of drugs during pregnancy and lactation has been classified into four classes (A to D), where the most useful and safest drugs are in class A, whereas the most harmful and often contraindicated drugs are in class D. The user friendliness of the classification system has been further increased by giving each class a colour code: A - green, B - grey, C - yellow and D - red. Each drug contains an evaluation including a literature review with references and a short clinical recommendation taking into account the dosage form of the drug.
