Serum gamma-glutamyltransferase (S-GGT)
Reading time: 1 minute
Gamma-glutamyltransferase is an enzyme found in the liver, especially in the biliary epithelium, and in the pancreas, kidneys, and the endothelial cells of the blood vessel walls. It catalyzes the hydrolysis of certain peptides, as well as the transfer of the gamma-glutamyl group to amino acids and other peptides.
